PF Randy Holcomb to visit Manhattan this weekend?

There are now two conflicting reports on the intentions of Randy Holcomb this weekend. According to Greg Swaim of Midwest Basketball earlier this week Holcomb was supposed to make an official visit this weekend. However, a JuCo Junction report on Friday claim Holcomb's plane tickets say Providence, Rhode Island not Manhattan, Kansas. Even should Holcomb not visit as it now appears, the Wildcats have made up some ground. Originally, it appeared K-State had little chance with Randy but now the Cats making their way up his list. A commitment from Holcomb, a 6-8 forward from Los Angeles City College, would top off what appears to be a very good 1999-2000 class for the Wildcats. A profile follows...

Randy Holcomb
6-8    225 pounds
Los Angeles City College/Fresno State University
Hometown: Chicago, Illinois

A 2 year varsity starter at Chicago's Lincoln Park High School, Randy
earned all-city and all-conference honors as a senior, and was voted a
team MVP both seasons. Averaging 18 points per game, he helped
Lincoln Park to a conference title as a senior, and posted more than 20
points and 10 rebounds per game as a junior. Following graduation
in 1997 he signed with Fresno State.

A Prop-48 player, Holcomb was forced to sit out the 1997-1998
season while meeting NCAA eligibility requirements. As a freshman
in the 1998-1999 season for the Bulldogs, Randy appeared in
31 games and averaged just 5.3 points and 3 rebounds a game while
hitting nearly 49% of his field goals and 57% of his free throws. He
left Fresno right before the fall semester last year (his sophomore
season) and enrolled at L.A. City College.

Looking for playing time, Holcomb found it at City. He averaged
19 points and 8 rebounds per game and earned all-state honors.
City, meanwhile, ran away from the competition with a 31-2
regular season record. Randy's also looking at schools like San Diego
State, Oklahoma and Providence.
